Gibela Rail invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for Assistant position. The position reports to the relevant to the relevant EPU Manager.


Department: Manufacturing, CBS Mainline


Vacancy: Assistant Operator


Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science
  • Experience in manufacturing environment would be advantageous
  • Experience in stainless steel industry would be advantageous

Responsibilities:

  • Support quality initiatives
  • Support the team leaders and artisans
  • Maintain 5S condition of the working zone
  • Maintain safety standards in the department
  • Drive cost improvement initiatives through continuous improvement
  • Maintain equipment standards (through TPM schedules)


Behavioural Requirements:

  • Must have ambition and willingness to learn the assembling, manufacturing, straightening and cleaning procedures in the stainless-steel environment
  • Ability to read and write and follow procedures
  • Must be safety and quality conscious
  • Must be quality conscious
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, and be able to follow instructions
  • Able to relate well with people
  • Manage time well, by prioritising and sequencing tasks
  • Willing to be trained in more than one discipline of the rolling stock process
  • Must be able and willing to perform the same task repeatedly & consistently
  • Must be able to consistently stand for entire shift
